Have you had the urge to modernize your headboard or personalize it, or simply make something new? Here are a series of ideas that you can discover to make your own original headboard.
1) A plaited fabric for a soft headboard
For this headboard you will need a piece of wood to hang the headboard off and numerous pairs of the same curtain with top loops, wadding, a sewing machine, a needle and thread, black and grey fabric dye. Cut off the top loops on all of your curtains; throw away the top loops except for 2. Lay each curtain fabric on top of each other, pin together then cut long strips to the top. Sew these strips together with a sewing machine and stuff with wadding. Take 3 of your tubes and plait together, repeat with all tubes and sew each plait trio shut with a needle and thread. Using your sewing machine sew along the top of your hooped section, sewing in one by one each plaited tube. If you haven’t been able to find different fabrics in different monochrome tones, you can dye the fabric strips first following the packet instructions.

2) A bright painted triangle
It is a good way to add some colour to you wall with a little graphic design. All you need is the paint colour of your choice, some masking tape.

3) A history of photographs headboard
You can decorate your headboard with photos of your loved ones, by using mini clothes pegs to pin them along a piece of string above your head.

4) A bright colourful modern colour block.
A headboard in bright yellow, is a great idea to add a zest of colour to your room. Blogger Fanny Marshall from the blog Tete D’ange covered hers in bright yellow paper which hides her electric cables on her lights.

5) Paint only part of the wall
An eclectic choice but very original. Done properly can create a very sophisticated look.

6) A little book nook
A little nook in the wood that is part shelving for your books, candles, photographs, decorative objects, lamps and creates a focal point to your bed.

7) A happy memories headboard
Create a headboard with lots of picture frames where you can include your favorite moments and happy memories. You can also change the pictures as needed.

8) A creative gallery
A wall of frames can create a focal point headboard.

9) Upcycle old furniture
Don’t throw away recycle. For this headboard you could use an old door, old wood paneling or an old garage door. A bright lick of paint will give it a fresh new life!

10) A wooden forest
Make yourself a creative and natural headboard by creating little trees, to feel like you are in a forest. You could even use left over tree parts as bed legs to create an original bed or make them as little shelving units or pots for plants.

11) Book worm
For those who love to read, why not purchase a plank of wood and stick down some open books. A great way to add a little literature to your decor.
12) A blackboard
Write little notes for your loves ones, funny things that have happened, famous quotes or little anecdotes.
