Wall art appears to us to be a technique that is reasonably easy to learn. Decorating a wall for most people is as simple as a few pots of carefully chosen paint or thoughtfully applied wallpaper, embellished with ornaments of choice such as photo frames or posters. However, for people who are looking for something somewhat out of the ordinary, a little more brain-wracking is required.
This American YouTuber decided to do just that. Elsa Rhae has rapidly made a name for herself in the cosmetics field, with a huge stash of videos showing off her impressive makeup creations, inspired by art in general (cinema, television, et.) and even video games. And if her talent with a makeup brush wasn’t enough, she also has an eye for decoration, which can be seen in the wall art she created in her bedroom, using adhesive tape and paint applied with a shadow effect. How better to get inspired to create your own unique wall decorations? However, we recommend that such artwork would be better in another room rather than the bedroom, which should remain a place of rest, even visually.
In creating such patterns, you need specific inspiration. Elsa took her inspiration from a Reddit video containing a design like this:
Before starting out, she made a few draft sketches, to give herself a precise idea of what she was going to put on the wall.
She then started creating the patterns with adhesive tape. This step requires a little more attention to detail.
Next she moved on to the painting, creating a shadow effect. She started by applying black paint, moving on to white paint, blending it with care.
To finish it off, she removed the tape with extreme care, once the paint had fully dried.
The final result:
