The game Molkky is to drop wooden sticks using what is called a molky. Each stick is numbered from 1 to 12. The goal is to make a total of 50 points. A game of molkky costs between 20 and 50 pounds on average when they are simple pieces of wood, in this article, we show you how you can make it yourself and cheaper than buying the game new!
- You will need:
– Wooden battons of 3 meter long x 5cm diameter
– An electric saw
– sand paper
– Wood paint and a paintbrush
1) How to make it
Cut you wooden stick into 13 pieces between at 30cm long
Set one aside. Cut 12 of the sticks in two on a diagonal.
Sand paper the edges
Then paint on the slanted edge the numbers 1 to 12.
Once dry your game is now ready to play!
2) The rules of the game
Place the sticks in the position like in the photo, 3 to 4 meters away from your throwing position. It can be on gravel, sand or grass. Separate into different teams. The first person throws the molkky to separate the 12 sticks
Each player takes it in turn to throw the molkky. If you hit only one stick you win the number of points indicated. If you make more than one fall down you win the number of sticks fallen.
Beware, that the sticks that fall down, must be lying flat and not on others for the points to count
Once you have counted your points the sticks are put upright but in the exact position they landed. As the game goes on the sticks will move further and further apart.
You need to reach 50 points, if you go over 50, your points go down to 25
