With the financial crisis there was pressure on countries to sell their islands to people. Indeed, a lot of European, American or Russian citizens were interested in getting an island of their own. After Rory finished work in Cambodia, the family was supposed to head back to New York but it then became possible for them to get an island in Cambodia and Melita Koulmandas Hunter and her husband Rory seized this opportunity.
They worked a lot with their son Narith to create a breathtaking resort which features 27 private villas at the price of $869 per night. Customers seem to enjoy the sense of privacy they get from being on the island and the views are just extraordinary. The Song Saa Private Island Resort is eco-friendly but still offers a pretty luxurious experience. They even founded the « The Song Saa Foundation » which fights for the preservation of the oceans and against deforastation.
